Our Story

John Watkins has had experience in the awning business since 1980. After 15 years with Thermo-Press Corp., manufacturer of interior storm windows and awnings, John purchased the company in 1993.

When he bought Norvell Awning Company two years later, John combined the two awning entities into a tremendously successful business. In 2007, John sold the business to pursue a new venture in Washington D.C., in partnership with Washington Canopies. John brought his experience and service back to Richmond and the surrounding markets in 2009, when he started Watkins Awnings.
